Delaware KIDS Fund 5K had 234 runners and walkers of all ages participate in last week’s Newport race which raised twenty-eight thousand dollars. This highly anticipated event takes place in Newport each summer and is presented by Harvey, Hanna & Associates, Hyatt Place Dewey Beach, My Sherpa, AWE Oil, M&T Bank, and Rehoboth Beach Running Co. The race organizers have added a second event for beach-goers this year: the inaugural Que Pasa 5K for the Delaware KIDS Fund in Dewey Beach, which will take place this Saturday. Between 170 to 230 runners and walkers are expected to participate. Race event information and results can be found at Races2Run.com.
Delaware KIDS Fund is an acronym for ‘Kids in Distressed Situations’ helps at-risk children in Delaware who may face violence, abuse, family financial troubles, or other distressing situations. It is a non-profit organization founded by Thomas J. Hanna, VP of Harvey Hanna & Associates, a commercial real estate company. Proceeds from the event are donated directly to various youth emergency food relief programs throughout Delaware.
“We are immensely grateful to our many sponsors without whom this would not be possible,” said Ryan Kennedy with Harvey, Hanna & Associates. “And we are so excited to bring this race to Dewey Beach where we hope for another fantastic turnout on the 13th.”
